Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC) is excited to bring back our popular program, Jazz Jam Saturdays, starting in January 5, 2018. Each Saturday in January, come sit in and jam with a trio of teachers from PMAC’s Jazz Institute. The faculty is rotated each week to offer a variety of musicians to play with and each session will focus on two tunes. Each hour-long open jazz jam session is an opportunity to make music and experiment in an informal group setting. January 5 kicks off the month-long program, with every following Saturday in January (12th, 19th, 26th), 1:00-2:00 pm at PMAC, 973 Islington St. in Portsmouth, NH.
Play, learn and explore a new theme every week:
January 5: Latin Grooves – Blue Bossa & My Little Suede Shoes
January 12: Modal Mania – Little Sunflower & Canteloupe Island
January 19: Blues – All blues & Billie’s Bounce
January 26: Standards – Bye Bye Blackbird & I Love You
Get expert advice with different instructors leading the session each week! Open to drum set, bass guitar, upright bass, guitar, piano/keyboard, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, saxophone, flute, clarinet, tuba, trombone, and voice. Teen and adult players of all levels are invited. You do not need to be a PMAC student to come! The sessions are free to current PMAC students. A $10 drop-in fee applies for any other participants.
