Nahcotta excitedly presents the a two-person show for the month of July, featuring the work of Seacoast artists Cindy Rizza and Leah Giberson from July 6 through July 29. The opening reception is free and open to the public and will take place at Nahcotta on Friday, July 6, from 6-8 p.m.
The work of Rizza and Giberson share a sense of beautiful and forlorn nostalgia, lost and found Americana, the bright and beautiful remnants of those who were once there, some of whom are destined to return, having left the scene for just a mere moment. As representational painters, their work connotes the memories of childhood, joy, family, connectivity, and, in this show in particular, embodies and embraces the archetypes of our American summer. Swimming pools and slides, freshly washed clothing hung out on the line to dry, blowing in the breeze, folding beach chairs, and shiny trailers parked at the roadside…they represent the freedom and possibility of summer.
The opening reception for this show is Friday, July 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Nahcotta, located at 110 Congress Street in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
