SUMMARY:Long Story Short: Coming Home 10th Anniversary Celebration at 3S Artspace
DESCRIPTION:Long Story Short: Coming Home 10th Anniversary CelebrationWednesday\, September 24Doors 6:30pm / Event 7pmLocation: 3S ArtspaceSeatedPay-What-You-Choose Starting at $15 \nReturning to where it all began and finding comfort where your people are. That’s what this special 10th anniversary Long Story Short is all about. We’re featuring some of the most impactful storytellers the series has brought to the stage (and NHPR airwaves!)\, as well as a beer release\, giveaways\, and plenty of chances to swap stories with friends. We will not be accepting storytelling applications for this show\, but there will be three pink pumpkin opportunities\, so come to the show with a story tell! \nFeatured storytellers:Charleen ThorburnA.G. SoretteKemetia Foley \n—- \nWith gratitude for our longstanding partnerships and their support\, proceeds from this show will benefit 3S Artspace and NHPR. \n—- \nLong Story Short will be formatted for special radio programs on New Hampshire Public Radio in 2025! \nA broadcast version of the all Long Story Short events will air as part of the “NHPR Presents” series\, which aims to work with arts and culture nonprofit organizations across the state to bring similar community events to the air. \n—- \nAbout Long Story Short: Long Story Short is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025 with a series of shows\, collaborations\, and even a few surprises throughout the year. Each live show will include the typical slate of talented storytellers from New Hampshire and beyond\, as well as special features and announcements to recognize the milestone year. Long Story Short will also continue its partnership with 3S Artspace in Portsmouth. It’s a big year for this contemporary arts organization as well. In 2025\, 3S Artspace celebrates 10 years as a Gallery\, Performance Space\, hub for creativity\, and gathering place for all.Since its launch\, the strength and success of Long Story Short is due to the storytellers and supporters who have found a home in this event. The goal of the 10th anniversary year is to celebrate this community and create new ways for people to engage in the years ahead.Long Story Short is not just a storytelling event. It’s an opportunity to share the funniest moments life brings us\, the deepest human emotions\, and the strangest day of your life with complete strangers. This bare-bones storytelling series\, hosted by Beth LaMontagne\, is free of pretense and over-rehearsed monologues. The show throws a mix of professional writers\, performers\, and average folks who have no public speaking experience whatsoever on stage with just a mic and a spotlight to tell a personal story based on that show’s theme. What makes Long Story Short unique is the off-the-cuff feel many of the stories have\, including each show’s one open mic slot. A brave volunteer from the audience is selected at random and must take the stage in a moment’s notice to open the second half\, — not even the host knows what’s going to happen. \nFollow Long Story Short on Facebook: facebook.com/LSSat3S \n—- \n3S Artspace is supported in part by grants from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts; the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and NHCF’s Geoffrey E. Clark and Martha Fuller Clark Fund; and Little Bay Fund. \nThank you to our lead sponsors: AC Hotel Portsmouth\, The Brook\, The Kane Company/Tidemark\, Katzman Contemporary Projects\, MacEdge\, Raka\, Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel.
