LGBTQ+ Speed Dating Event at Teatotaller

Teatotaller
69 High St
Somersworth, NH 03878
United States603-841-2545

Dating in the Granite State can be hard for anyone. Even with a sea of dating apps to choose from, single life in the 603 is hard to navigate. For the LGBTQ+ community, it may seem impossible to find intimacy and romance in the semi-rural state. Yet, New Hampshire’s Rainbow City – Somersworth – is delivering on its promise to bring queer-friendly programming to the Granite State – and make lasting, even romantic, queer connections.  This month, Teatotaller is set to host its second annual QTeas – a sober speed dating event for folks “in the LGBTQ+ galaxy.”

Billed as a “fun, inclusive, super fabulous, rapid-fire connection-making event,” QTeas is the first of its kind in New Hampshire to connect queer folks in a sober venue looking for love, friendship, and community.  Teatotaller owner, Emmett Soldati, explains, “think of it like an Offline Tinder!” Last year’s event sold out and attendees report back dozens of ‘matches.’

One of the co-hosts, former Freedom NH Campaign Manager Linds Jakows, states, “We’ve heard from NH’s large LGBTQ community that there are too few venues and events to meet others romantically. This is our first attempt at it and the interest has been huge – from cisgender gay men and women, to transgender individuals, gender nonconforming folks, and others.  Folks are going to meet a LOT of ‘qts’ in two hours.”

As the event states, “Given the open nature of this event, you will meet many folks that do – and don’t – match your dating preference, and we think that’s wonderful! Participants will be able to ‘match’ through a secret ballot, but you’ll also be surrounded by a bunch of folks you haven’t met yet in your community. ”  Attendees are encouraged to engage on the Instagram “@qteasdate” to learn more about prospective ‘qts.’

The event will be on Saturday, February 15th at 7pm. The event is 18+.  Tickets can be purchased online or at the door for $10.

Proceeds of the event benefit Concord’s Queer Prom coming in May.
