Hungry for Knowledge? CANCELED

Portsmouth Public Library
175 Parrott Avenue
Portsmouth, NH 03801

Why did our food system shift so dramatically over the past 60 years? What does industrialized agriculture look like? What is the impact of our current food system on animals? On the environment? On human health and nutrition? Learn the answers to these questions at a free upcoming event, sponsored by Factory Farming Awareness Coalition (FFAC), in conjunction with NH Animal Rights League and Twin States Animal Liberation.

The event includes a 35-minute film produced by FFAC titled “Hidden in Plain Bite: The Power of Our Food Choices” and features FFAC Executive Director Katie Cantrell, who founded the Coalition in 2010. She looks at factory farming holistically, as a threat to the environment, social justice, animal welfare, and public health. FFAC’s mission is to empower people to help save animals, the environment, and our own health through our daily food choices. The film will be followed by an online discussion and Q & A with Jesse Tandler, FFAC’s Educational Program Director.

From social justice to public health to sustainability, factory farming is one of the most serious issues facing the planet. By educating people and stakeholder audiences about the realities of factory farming, FFAC works to build both a consumer base for a sustainable, compassionate food system and an informed citizenry that supports cultural and legislative change.
