Green Heron Barn Dance featuring Old Time Dave Talmage
Grab your dancing shoes and join Green Heron and friends for a rollicking old-time barn dance at the venerable Stone Church in Newmarket, New Hampshire. The fiddles will ring and the banjos will sing as Green Heron’s rag-tag “barn dance” band provides the soundtrack while Newmarket’s own Old Time Dave Talmage calls a variety of Contra and square dances. This evening of down-home revelry is bound to be a hoot for folks of all ages.
Regularly seen as a duo, Green Heron will transform into a lively old-time stringband joined by some special friends to help fill out the sound. The group will play selections from the massive catalog of American fiddle tunes providing a high energy backdrop to get your body moving across the dance floor.
Old Time Dave Talmage has been a fixture of New Hampshire’s bluegrass and Americana scene for many years and as the long-time host of the renowned Tuesday Night Bluegrass Jam, he’s no stranger to the Stone Church stage. Dave wears many hats: singer, songwriter, and most infamously a rollerskatin’-hoolahoopin’-fiddler, but on this night, he’ll be our dance caller extraordinaire.
The band will start at 7pm with a short set of tunes to kick off the night before the first dance commences shortly after.
