“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead
More than five years ago, a tradition was dreamed up by a small, talented group of designers and homeowners – to create a beautiful showcase of holiday spirit in the Exeter area, and at the same time, to fund a long-standing desire to help neighbors in need.
Slated for Sunday, December 8th from 12-4, this all-volunteer event showcases five area venues which have been beautifully decorated by well-known local interior designers. and generously opened to the public for this one day.
“This is a tradition with my sisters and Mom every year. I love getting new ideas of how to decorate my home for the holidays – the designers are so creative,” said a recurring house tour attendee. The location of the homes is a well-guarded secret, up until the day of the Tour, where groups of people travel across the Exeter area, to tour homes, and enjoy the warmth and connection of the season, often stopping for a glass of wine or lunch downtown. Several area restaurants are creating new “Holiday House Tour” specialties.
Since its inception, the Exeter Area Holiday House Tour has generated more than $140,000 in donations to Womenade of Greater Squamscott. Tickets have sold out to this popular event for the past 3 years. Tickets are now available online at www.exeterareaholidayhousetour.com. Tickets are $35 per person.
Womenade of Greater Squamscott was founded in 2005 with the mission of providing short term financial support to neighbors-in-need when they have nowhere else to turn. Requests remain anonymous and come from trustworthy sources in the community such as school nurses, guidance counselors, doctor’s offices, and clergy.
Womenade serves men, women and children in the communities of Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, Newfields and Stratham as well as surrounding communities. 100% of your donations to Womenade go directly to those in need. All operating costs are fully covered by the Womenade Board of Directors.
