DESCRIPTION:The Art Center and the New Hampshire Art Association Present: \nEmotions\, Captured in Fabric — A Solo Exhibition by Nancy Morgan \nThe Art Center\, in collaboration with the New Hampshire Art Association\, is proud to present Emotions\, Captured in Fabric\, a compelling solo exhibition by award-winning fabric artist Nancy Morgan. The show opens May 12 and will run through the end of June. \nEmotion — characterized by intense mental activity and a spectrum of feelings from despair to solace — is the central theme of Morgan’s exhibition. Through a powerful series of monochromatic fabric art quilts\, Morgan explores the depths of human emotion inspired by life-size female statues in historic European cemeteries. Each piece is titled to reflect the emotional state she perceives in the figure\, capturing a moment of inner truth and vulnerability. \n“From Despair to Solace\, emotions can purvey a strength of feeling; a warmth of feeling\,” says Morgan. \nA self-taught artist with a graphic design and sewing background\, Morgan has developed a distinctive style of free-motion quilting that combines technical precision with emotional depth. Using her sewing machine like a paintbrush\, she layers fabric\, thread\, and tulle to create textured\, evocative works that invite reflection. Her unique monochromatic technique incorporates various shades of tulle to create dimension and bring her subjects to life\, allowing the raw emotion to take center stage without the distraction of color. \nNancy Morgan’s fabric artworks are part of private collections across the United States.
