The iconic venue known as the Elvis Room brings its 20-year retrospective to The Stone Church Music Club with old school classic bands Choosy Moms, Jupiter 2, and The Lucky Devilles.
The Elvis Room name is still overheard in conversations in Portsmouth even though it was only open for six years and closed in 1999. Why? The series Elvis Room 20: A Retrospective will illuminate and celebrate how a tiny odd-ball coffee house transformed into a live music mini nova, forever remaining in the hearts of many in our Seacoast community.
With acts ranging from Elliot Smith to The Donnas, the Elvis Room was Portsmouth’s version of Rathskeller or CBGBs. It was also where burgeoning local bands like Thanks to Gravity, Fly Spinach Fly, The Queers, and The Bruisers got their start. It was a platform for so many to share their art.
