Dover Art Walk to take place on July 6, from 4-8 PM.
The Solstice has passed, and the city of Dover is now dealing with the sweltering heat of Summer, but the artists in the Seacoast are anything but lazy. Half-way through the second year, the Dover Art Walk continues, with artists and musicians in many locations in the Downtown area.
Fifteen locations from Third St. to Williams St. will be taking part in this month’s walk. Each location will have maps available, and those who get their maps stamped at each location will be eligible for a drawing at the end. One might start such a walk at Ross Furniture, where are may be viewed in a home-type setting, along with great furnishings. From there, The Strand is steadily becoming a well-known venue for performing arts. At Flight, it’s possible to enjoy art and a your favorite coffee at the same time. The Metrospa is where you can look and feel your best, while enjoying the work of some of the Seacoast’s fine artists. The Flower Room has what you need to brighten your day, or that of a loved one, and Dover Wine company will permit you to entertain your palate and your eyes. Spires Video is another stop, right at Franklin square, where, along with Cochecho Square, you’ll be able to hear some great local musicians including Double Take, Cedar Mountain Bluegrass, Jessica Kelly, Jemma Glenn Wixson and Haiku Sacrifice. For morsels to feed your body as well as your soul, The Gyro Spot is the next stop, and then comes Nicole’s Hallmark which surely must be Dover’s longest standing card and gift shop, with many locally-made gifts and crafts. Adelle’s Coffee Shop, on Hale St, across from City Hall is one of Dover’s best meet-up locations, featuring great coffee and great art. Crossing Central Ave brings you to Twenty Local, with local artwork on display. Right across Williams St is Pin Up, Dover’s Eco-Conscious hair salon, featuring the finest styles along with fine art. After this, take a stroll down Williams St, through Henry Law Park, where the Cochecho Arts Festival is taking place, and then make your way to 1 Washington St. where The Arts Center will be featuring music by Steve Carter and Long Journey, the opening of “Geometry of Abstraction” featuring the work of Tim Gilbert and Barbara Mata, as well as art from The Residence at Silver Square. Take a tour throughout the mill, where you’ll find the work of at least 20 artists. Finish up your walk at the Cochecho Courtyard to redeem your fully-stamped map for your chance to win the monthly drawing.
Musical acts are kindly sponsored by Earcraft Music.
The number of artists participating in the monthly walks is continually growing, with new artists coming on board regularly.
