The Civil War Roundtable of New Hampshire invites you to join us as historian/author Gary Dyson comes up from Maryland to discuss his book, “A Civil War Correspondent in New Orleans.”
“A Civil War Correspondent in New Orleans” explores the eyewitness accounts of Boston Journal War Correspondent Albert Gaius Hills from the day he left Boston Harbor in November 1861 through the New Orleans Campaign of 1862. Hills recorded his observations while with the Union fleet while in the Gulf of Mexico and on Ship Island as well as his description of the bombardments of Forts Jackson and St. Philip, the battle against the Rebel fleet, and his impression of captured New Orleans. Hills’ life and his relationships with other correspondents are also part of the presentation.
The CWRTNH is a non-profit group and welcome the public to visit and perhaps join. Please check our website for more on the speaker and our group. Meeting actually starts at 7:15pm, doors open 6:45pm.
