This year we are bringing you a new seasonal exhibit as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the American Independence Festival. As we look back at festivals past we look more critically at how we commemorate or memorialize, who makes those choices and why.
People, places, and events, both joyful and traumatic, are often the subjects of memorialization and frequently telling some but not always all of the story.
In this exhibit, we take you through some items in our collection to reveal the ways in which people in Revolutionary times used a variety of methods to commemorate the past.
We invite you to view this virtual exhibit to learn more. This online exhibit is free and will run through November 2020. If you would like to learn more about the museum and our collection please feel free to reach out and schedule a virtual tour.
