100 Soulful Summer Singers at York Community Auditorium

York Community Auditorium
1 Robert Stevens Drive
York, ME 03909
United States

What happens when you invite the amazing Bongani Magatyana from Cape Town, South Africa and the incredible Kathy Bullock from Berea, Kentucky to York, Maine? One hundred singers turn out to sing South African A Cappella and American Gospel! Don’t miss this fabulous concert July 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the York Community Auditorium in York, Maine, at 1 Robert Stevens Drive, off Long Sands Road.

“Singers from Voices from the Heart, Con Tutti, the South Church Choir, and community singers from throughout the Greater Seacoast will join to sing this incredible mix of music! After a week-long workshop of rehearsals, they will share all they have learned!” says presenter, Joanne Connolly. “I have worked many times with the amazing Kathy Bullock. I am blown away by her talent, her teaching, and the giant love that fuels all she does. She is fully connected to her own traditions of gospel music and to the world of classical music at the same time. I have taken many workshops with Kathy whenever I need to learn some great new music, feel positive about the world again, and just be inspired by being in her presence!”

Last summer Connolly led 60 singers from Voices from the Heart on a 3-week musical/humanitarian trip throughout South Africa. In planning for this trip, Connolly met and consulted with the inspiring Bongani Magatyana from Cape Town, South Africa. Connolly says, “I have been forever inspired by traditional South African music, its harmonies, its exciting rhythms, and its beautiful stand-alone a cappella–ness!! Voices heard four of Bongani’s a cappella groups on its trip there….wow!” As part of the evening, Voices will share a short presentation of its South Africa trip, including stories, photos, and videos.

This will be a memorable evening of music. Buy your tickets early, the evening is sure to sell out!
