A sister business to Portsmouth's Smuttynose Brewing Company, Portsmouth Brewery opened its doors in 1991 as New Hampshire's first brewpub.
About 30 ales and lagers are brewed and sold on the premises, with a dozen appearing on the menu at any one time. Tours are not offered, but the brewing equipment can be clearly seen from inside the restaurant.
The Brewery also offers a varied menu of good, modestly priced food.
