A fun movie Johnthomas1938 from Rye Meryl Streep is fantastic in her role of Julia Child. She is the real thing! Amy Adams is great as a young Julia: smart and determined.
Great Movie CAL from Portsmouth Two stories in one. Delightful and entertaining. Made me want to try Julia's famous Boeuf Bourguignon. Bought her cookbook on the way home and made it. YUM!
Near perfect character study/romantic comedy Sean R. from Dover Meryl Streep carries this movie as far as she can and Amy Adams fills in the rest quite well. The movie was entertaining and full of substance. It'll make you laugh and cry while leaving you with a great movie going experience. Anyone afraid to embrace their sensitive side need not bother with this movie but everyone else will thoroughly enjoy it.
Give her the oscar now inthebox from portsmouth What can you say about a great actress...when you close your eyes and you hear her voice, she IS Julia Child. Ms. S does a steller job. What a wonderful film...I only wished it was more about Julia and less about Julie. While I liked both stories...I went away wanting more of the story of Julia..her food, her life and her husband.
Outstanding performances by the leads Movie Doc from Lee Satisfying film about how two women's lives intersect, decades apart. Outstanding performances.
Yummy Movie chowbell from Rye There were five of us at this movie today, and we all enjoyed it. We thought that it was delightful. It also made us hungry! Great story, great acting, great fun.
Fun movie movielovernh from kingston Meryl Streep was excellent as Julia Childs and her husband's character was just endearing. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
Super ... Dave from Berwick A movie can't fail with the likes of Meryl Streep and Amy Adams - both superb! Enjoyed the dry humor and the "real world" feel to this movie. A must see ...
Streep is wonderful! Scott B. from Lee, NH This movie is quaint and is really two movies in one. The acting of Streep is excellent! They even have some wonderful scenes from Saturday Night Live. you know the one I am talking about. it is worth seeing just for Streep protrayal of Childs.
very good, funny and moving L Elliott from Dover Really cool movie, funny and great acting by Streep and Tucci. In fact, I think they could have made just one movie with just them, and only about Julia Child. The part about Julie was good but Julia stole the show.
Cook vs. Book MovieDog from Rye First let me say that the scenes between Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep were worth the price of admission. But I was hoping for a progression of Julia's life in contrast with the progression of Julie's blog/experiment. Instead I learned more than I ever cared to about the publishing of Julia's (and Julie's) book. And Julie's definitely needed editing.
Masterful Bob from York A sweeter, more lovely movie I cannot imagine. Also funny, with something to say besides. Just superb.
Movie would have been great if it was just Julia doabbs from Milton This film was like two different movies spliced together. On one hand you had the entertaining story of Julia Childs masterfully portrayed by Meryl Streep. On the other side you had a painful and at times downright horrific story of some pretentious blog writer named Julie. All you need to do is watch the trailer to get a feel for what you will be in for. If you can tolerate what you see then go see it.
