Um, hello
Layla from Durham
This movie is rated PG- not G. Little kids should not see this movie. Also, just because a movie is rated PG, does not mean its specifically made for kids. THAT SAID... the movie is very goood, and if you had no idea what the book was about, all 60 words or so, you're a moron.

Unexpected

If you are expecting a lighthearted kids movie, or a Bourne-like spy movie, or a frat-house farce, or any of a multitude of other genres, then you will be disappointed. I did not expect what I saw, but what I saw I enjoyed as a work of art.

Disapointing!

What.. what a let down. This certainly isn't designed with children or the young at heart in mind. It had a few cute and touching moments but they were all quickly overshadowed by all the sad and gloom. Pointless, unfulfilling and un-fun!

Other reviewers are wrong

This film is a work of art. If all you want out of a kids movie is colorful characters and fart jokes then this is not your movie. If you want something that engages you and makes you think then I can't recommend this film enough.

Disappointed

We took our 4 year old and 6 year old. There wasn't a problem with nightmares, but the movie wasn't impressive at all. It was dark. Way more dark than we expected. It stayed true to the book for the most part, but to make a short children's story into a full length movie you have to add a lot to it. What they added wasn't worth the view.

Not for young kids.

Up last night with a young one (7 years old.) who got nightmares from this crappy movie. It is a art bluff movie full of symbolism and dark depressing colors. It took a wonderful book and trash it. Keep the kids away from it. No fantasy or wonder.
