Launch into summer with a series of free, monthly concerts at the Rye Public Library. The concerts are family friendly, open to the public and begin at 3 pm.
Always popular, the Sea Brass Quintet kicks off the series on June 21 with a rousing performance of swing era standards and songs from the Great American Songbook. Playing an unusual combination of instruments, including the guitar, pedal steel, stand-up bass and pennywhistle, this quintet brings a unique, pleasing musical sound.
The versatile David Polansky performs on Wednesday, July 19, engaging listeners with songs of a serious to humorous nature and everything in between. His music is loved by everyone from grandparents to preschoolers. MUSIC THROUGH THE DECADES showcases music popular in America from 1895 to 1960, such as the Gay 90s, World War I and World War II, Dixieland, and The Great Depression.
Rounding out the series on Wednesday, August 16 will be the always popular Tj Wheeler. This amazing musician has been performing on the Seacoast for decades and he is far from done. Performed on five continents for over 450,000 people, HOPE, HEROES AND THE BLUES, offers a journey through the complexity of the Blues musical genre.
