Sea chanteys and sailors’ ballads are back on the streets of Portsmouth!
Headliners Vienna Carroll, David Coffin, and Cliff Haslam are joined by Mary Garvey, London Julie and friends, Mudhook, Donna and Rick Nestler, The Portermen, Don Sineti, Skylark Trad Band, and Heather Wood, for a weekend of rollicking sea chanteys, poignant ballads, old traditions and fresh modern takes on music from the seas, docksides, and inland waterways of America and the world. Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival has been celebrating the maritime and musical legacy of Portsmouth since 2000, and we are excited to be returning to the streets of downtown Portsmouth this year!
Start with the roving sailors Saturday morning; performances all afternoon, capped by an open chantey sing. Then the feature concert Saturday night, and more music all Sunday afternoon, ending with the grand finale chantey blast with all our performers, filling Market Square with song.
