A Tiny Bit Eclectic includes 14 songs by local musicians

The Seacoast’s pool of musical talent is on full display on a new downloadable compilation released on Friday. A Tiny Bit Eclectic includes 14 tracks, all written and performed by Portsmouth-area acts.

The new album is the first in a series of compilations of songs by local musicians. The series is part of Art-Speak’s A Tiny Bit Huge campaign, which aims to promote Seacoast artists and innovators. Sixty percent of proceeds from the project will go to the artists, while the remaining 40 percent will go to Art-Speak, Portsmouth’s cultural commission.

The local acts featured on the compilation are Chris Klaxton, Justin Carloni, The Unrefined, James Gilmore, Glass Arrowhead, Sojoy, Peter Squires, Kyoty, Young Frontier, Fiveighthirteen, Bob Halperin, The Texas Governor, Kid Coyote, and Martin England and the Reconstructed.

This genre-hopping collection will introduce you to some of the region’s musical standard-bearers as well as acts just beginning to make a name for themselves, the website says.

The compilation series is produced by a handful of volunteers who are active in the local music scene, including Jason Boucher, Timothy Fife, Chris Greiner, Nate Hastings, Chris Klaxton, and Peter Squires. They plan to release a new compilation every few weeks during the summer. Upcoming compilations will include titles like A Tiny Bit Jazz, A Tiny Bit Indie, and A Tiny Bit Heavy, according to the website.

A Tiny Bit Eclectic is available for purchase online at a suggested price of $9.99, or you can name your own price. To buy it, click here.
