Prescott Park Announces Summer Music

This year's River House Concert Series at the Prescott Park Arts Festival features a stellar line line-up of singers and musicians, including Judy Collins, Trombone Shorty and Justin Townes Earle.

Singer/songwriter Richard Thompson, an Arts Festival favorite, opens the series on Sunday, June 30. Updated: Canadian pop/folk rocker Bruce Cockburn will give the series closer on Sept. 1.

In between, there will be two months of big-name talent. Performers like Dar Williams, Melissa Ferrick, Steve Earle, and Carolina Chocolate Drops will liven up the stage by the water's edge. You'll also be able to see Lake Street Dive, Spirit Family Reunion, Jonathan Edwards and the Laura Cortese Quartet.

City Debuts Planning Website

With multiple groups agitating for changes to the Portsmouth zoning ordinance, development approval process, and parking system, the City of Portsmouth has debuted a website making planning information more accessible. The site, www.planportsmouth.org, brings together information on land-use boards, city plans and reports, Planning Department projects, current development applications, land-use regulations, and forms and fees.

Sarah Orne Jewett House, South Berwick ME. The 19th century writer Sarah Orne Jewett spent much of her life in a stately Georgian residence in South Berwick that was built in 1774. Today the house is maintained by Historic New England.

Movie listings for the Fox Run Stadium 15 theater in Newington now include links to Fandango for those who want to purchase tickets in advance. To buy tickets, click on a show time and you'll be taken directly to the ticket purchase page. Fandango will add a "convenience fee" to the ticket price. Online ticketing for other theaters will be added as it becomes available.

Market Square: One of 'America's Most Beautiful'

TravelandLeisure.com, the online travel magazine from Travel+Leisure, is featuring Portsmouth's Market Square as one of "America's Most Beautiful Town Squares." The website searched for traditional square in smaller towns that might feature a landmark, like North Church, and surrounding colorful shops and cafes. Other cities include Centerway Square, Corning, NY; Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza, Prescott, AZ; and Parade Plaza, New London, CT.
